Our global banking client is currently looking for a german speaking and experienced Business Analysts with min 8 years experience to support Consumer Finance (CoFi) workstreams, with a strong focus on lending lifecycle processes, credit decisioning, and AI-enabled solutions. The role involves close collaboration with business stakeholders to capture requirements and translate them into implementable solutions. The BA will also engage with legacy mainframe-based lending systems, performing source-to-target data mapping and extracting business logic from existing mainframe applications so it can be re-implemented on the target system. The target system context may include modern core banking platforms such as Thought Machine Vault.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture, analyze, and document business requirements across the lending lifecycle (Advisory, Initiation, Credit Decisioning) for Consumer Finance.
- Support Business Functional Analysis for Lending products and Prolongation / post-decision processes.
- Contribute to the design of AI-based solutions, including Agentic AI for credit decisioning and AI-driven document processing and handling.
- Support solution definition end-to-end.
- Work closely with business, IT, and architecture teams to ensure end-to-end traceability from requirements to solution design.
- Support workshops, requirement walkthroughs, and validation sessions with business stakeholders.
- Engage with legacy mainframe-based lending systems for impact analysis and integration design.
- Perform source-to-target data mapping between legacy mainframe data structures (copybooks, VSAM, DB2) and the target system data model, ensuring data integrity, completeness, and traceability.
- Extract and reverse-engineer business logic from existing mainframe applications (COBOL programs, JCL batch flows, business rules embedded in code) and translate it into clear business specifications and rules that can be implemented on the target system.
Required Skills & Experience (Functional)
- Strong experience as a Business Analyst / Business Functional Analyst in banking or financial services.
- Domain knowledge in Consumer Lending.
- Experience across end-to-end lending lifecycle processes.
- Exposure to AI-enabled solutions (credit decisioning, document management) is a strong advantage.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in fast-paced, short-start engagements.
Technical Skills
- COBOL on Mainframe (Mandatory): Hands-on ability to read, interpret, and walk through COBOL programs running on Mainframe within the Consumer Finance / Lending landscape.
- Business Logic Extraction from Mainframe Applications (Mandatory): Proven ability to analyze legacy COBOL programs, copybooks, and batch jobs to extract embedded business rules and re-document them as business specifications for re-implementation on the target system.
- Data Mapping – Source-to-Target (Mandatory): Strong experience creating source-to-target mapping documents between mainframe data structures (VSAM / DB2 / copybooks) and target system data models, including transformation rules and data quality validations.
- Mainframe Lending Systems & Batch Processing (Mandatory): Working knowledge of mainframe-based lending systems, batch cycles, and downstream impact.
- SQL for Data Validation (Mandatory): Ability to write SQL queries for data analysis, validation, and reconciliation across lending datasets.
- Thought Machine experience (Good-to-Have): Exposure to Thought Machine Vault core banking platform, including familiarity with its product engine, smart contracts, and APIs, is a strong advantage for the target system implementation.
- JCL / VSAM / DB2 (Good-to-Have): Familiarity with JCL scripting, VSAM files, and DBf2 databases.
- Mainframe-to-Cloud Modernization awareness (Good-to-Have): Awareness of mainframe modernization approaches (re-platforming, re-architecting to GCP/Azure).
- API / Integration awareness (Good-to-Have): Conceptual understanding of APIs and integration patterns between mainframe systems and modern lending platforms.
