Floor Fitter Location: Kent Salary: £35,019 Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–5:00pm (40 hours per week) Contract Type: Permanent Our well-established client, a leading provider of housing solutions, is seeking an experienced Floor Fitter to join their team. Purpose of the Role Reporting to the Repairs & Maintenance Team Leader, the postholder will be responsible for carrying out both responsive and planned flooring maintenance across the organisation’s properties. This includes undertaking repairs and new installations as required. Duties and Responsibilities As a Floor Fitter, your primary focus will be on flooring-related tasks in both occupied and vacant properties. Key duties include: * Preparing work areas, including clearing furniture, removing doors, and cleaning surfaces. * Applying levelling compound as needed to ensure smooth subfloors. * Cutting and fitting underlay and flooring materials such as vinyl, wood, laminates, and safety flooring. * Securing flooring using methods such as stretching over spiked grippers, stitching, taping, gluing, or heat-sealing. * Cleaning and finishing installed flooring to a good standard. * Removing old flooring and disposing of materials in line with site protocols. * Replacing furniture and re-hanging doors after installation is complete. * Collaborating with colleagues, attending meetings, and supporting others as required. * Maintaining accurate records of completed work and communicating effectively with managers and team members. Required Skills and Experience * Proven experience in flooring installation, including vinyl, laminate, wood, and safety flooring. * Strong knowledge of subfloor preparation, underlay fitting, and the use of adhesives, spiked grippers, and sealants. * Excellent attention to detail for accurate measuring, cutting, and fitting. * Physically fit and capable of undertaking manual tasks. * Skilled in the use of flooring tools and equipment. * Organised with strong time management and problem-solving abilities. * Excellent communication skills. * Good understanding of health and safety practices. * Able to work independently and as part of a team.
