We are recruiting an experienced Battery Cooling / Thermal Systems Lead Engineer to support the end-to-end design, development and launch of automotive cooling systems for a major OEM vehicle programme.
This is a hands-on engineering role with full component ownership, covering concept through production, working closely with suppliers, manufacturing and CAE teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design and development of battery and engine cooling systems
- Ownership of cooling components including radiators, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, fans, hoses and coolant circuits
- Deliver prototype and production-ready engineering solutions
- Manage suppliers and support RFQ/RFI activities
- Ensure compliance with OEM processes, PLM standards and validation requirements
- Drive cost, weight and quality optimisation (VAVE)
- Maintain BOMs, DFMEAs, drawings and technical documentation
- Support testing, issue resolution and build support activities
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong background in automotive battery cooling / thermal management systems
- Experience across concept to launch within an OEM or Tier-1 environment
- Proven component ownership and design release experience
- Advanced CAD capability using CATIA V5 / V6 (3DX experience beneficial)
- Knowledge of GD&T, DFMEA, DFM/DFA and BOM management
- Supplier coordination and programme delivery experience
Desirable
- BEV or hybrid vehicle programmes
- Cost reduction and VAVE initiatives
- NVH and CAE collaboration
