Our banking client is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer/COBOL Developer with hands-on expertise in FIS Systematics to join a dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, and supporting core banking applications, with a focus on the FIS Systematics suite. You will collaborate closely with business analysts, project managers, and other technology teams to deliver high-quality solutions for our financial services clients.
Your responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, and maintain COBOL programs within the FIS Systematics environment (e.g., IMPACS, ALS, ST, etc.).
- Analyze business and technical requirements to deliver robust and scalable solutions.
- Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues in a timely manner.
- Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to best practices and coding standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support system integration, upgrades, and migrations.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation for new and existing applications.
- Provide production support and participate in on-call rotation as needed.
Essential skills/knowledge/experience:
- Proven experience in COBOL development, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
- Strong hands-on experience with FIS Systematics core banking modules.
- Proficiency in JCL, VSAM, CICS, and DB2.
- Experience with batch and online processing.
- Solid understanding of SDLC, change management, and quality assurance processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
Desirable skills/knowledge/experience:
- Prior experience with large-scale banking system migrations or upgrades.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
- Experience working with global teams.
