Job Description
DCT Recruitment are looking for a skilled and Estimator to join our client growing team in St Helens. This role will see you leading all pre-construction activities, including feasibility studies, budget cost plans, and full tender submissions, playing a key part in supporting the company’s future growth.Location: St HelensSalary: £65,000 – £70,000 per annumHours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 – 17:00Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days in the office, 2 days working from homeHoliday: 25 days annual leave plus 8 bank holidays and Christmas offWhat You’ll Be Doing•Leading the bid/no bid process and reviewing tender enquiries to identify risks and develop effective tender strategies.•Collaborating with project teams to establish contractor proposals and lead the bid process from receipt through to submission.•Conducting site visits to assess potential risks during the tendering phase.•Preparing scopes of work and bills of quantities based on tender information.•Engaging with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain and compare quotes, ensuring robust and competitive costs.•Working closely with operations to understand programme requirements and necessary preliminaries, producing high-level tender programmes.•Submitting tenders on time, ensuring they meet all requirements.•Attending client meetings and interviews as necessary.•Preparing feasibility studies and regularly updating cost plans for new build social housing projects.•Managing the tender process for a variety of schemes including new builds, refurbishments, and planned maintenance.•Contributing to project team meetings during development phases and identifying innovative build solutions or alternative materials.•Working alongside the Head of Business Support on bids and preparing comprehensive tender handover information for site teams.•Identifying new tender opportunities to help grow the business.What We’re Looking For•Proven experience in a similar role, ideally with a focus on new build social housing and refurbishment/planned maintenance projects.•Strong knowledge of Design and Build contracts and technical construction principles.•Excellent communication, negotiation, and ICT skills.•Ability to work effectively within deadlines and as part of a collaborative team.•Experience with estimating software such as Conquest would be advantageous.•Experience in tendering for educational and healthcare projects is desirable.•Familiarity with NatFED rates is a plus.About YouYou’ll be someone who values teamwork, communicates openly and honestly, and strives for high performance and efficiency.
