We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support engineering and construction activities on a recycling operational site in Sunderland. The successful candidate will oversee day‑to‑day site operations, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications and programme requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting out and supervising site works.
- Coordinating subcontractors and site activities.
- Ensuring compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
- Carrying out site inspections and quality checks.
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Maintaining accurate site records and progress reports.
- Supporting permit systems and operational site procedures.
- Monitoring progress against programme and reporting issues to management.
- Assisting with commissioning and handover activities.
- Liaising with project managers, client representatives, and operational staff.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Engineer on industrial, utilities, energy, or civil engineering projects.
- Experience working on live operational or process sites preferred.
- Strong understanding of health & safety regulations and CDM requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- CSCS Card essential.
- SMSTS or SSSTS preferred.
- First Aid qualification desirable.
- Proficient with setting out equipment and reporting systems.
Desirable Experience
- Waste management, recycling, or energy‑from‑waste sector experience.
- Permit‑to‑work systems.
- Temporary works coordination knowledge.
- Mechanical or civil background.
Working Pattern
- Monday to Friday.
- Possible weekend work depending on project requirements.
- Immediate start available.
- Work Location: In person.
