We’re supporting a leading, high-technology engineering organisation delivering complex systems into highly regulated sectors. As part of continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Buyer to take ownership of strategic procurement activities across a diverse supplier base. This is a key role within the procurement function, offering the opportunity to influence sourcing strategy, supplier performance, and cost optimisation across technically complex programmes.

The Role

You will be responsible for managing end-to-end procurement activity, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services in line with business objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading sourcing activities across mechanical, electrical, and engineered components
  • Negotiating contracts, pricing, and long-term agreements with suppliers
  • Developing and managing supplier relationships to improve performance, quality, and delivery
  • Supporting new product introduction (NPI) and engineering programmes
  • Driving cost reduction initiatives and value engineering opportunities
  • Ensuring compliance with internal governance and external regulatory requirements
  • Working cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and programme teams

About You

You will be an experienced procurement professional with a background in engineering, manufacturing, or a similarly technical environment. Key requirements:

  • Proven experience in a Buyer or Senior Buyer position within a technical industry
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Experience sourcing complex or engineered components
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings/specifications
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems
  • Commercially astute with a proactive, problem-solving mindset

Desirable:

  • Experience within defence, aerospace, or other regulated sectors
  • Knowledge of quality standards and compliance frameworks
  • CIPS qualification or working towards
