We are looking for an experienced Assembly Manufacturing Engineer to join a well-established engineering organisation. This opportunity has arisen due to continued programme development and the growth of the manufacturing function within the organisation. The business has a long heritage of delivering high-quality engineering solutions for defence and military applications, supporting customers globally with advanced manufacturing capabilities and specialist engineering expertise.

This role will focus on the Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) manufacturing processes. You will play a key role in transferring production knowledge, supporting manufacturing operations on the shop floor, and driving continuous improvement during production ramp-up and beyond. This role would suit a Manufacturing Engineer with experience in complex engineering environments who enjoys working closely with production teams and driving improvements across manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the transfer of Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) production knowledge into the UK manufacturing facility.
  • Act as the manufacturing engineering focal point on the shop floor, supporting operators and production teams.
  • Lead and support structured problem solving and process improvement activities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to improve efficiency, cost performance and production standards.
  • Support design for manufacture (DFM) during early product development stages.
  • Support and implement engineering change processes within manufacturing operations.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and work balance charts.
  • Contribute to line balancing and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with health and safety, environmental and quality standards.
Key Skills
  • Degree, HND, or Advanced Apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience working within complex engineering or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production operations.
  • Experience supporting engineering change processes.
  • Experience structuring BOMs from drawing through to manufacturing.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience working with MES systems or manufacturing data systems.
  • Strong problem solving and continuous improvement mindset.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience within vehicle or defence manufacturing programmes.
  • Experience supporting assembly and integration manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience working within large engineering organisations or complex supply chains.
