We are recruiting for two Trainee Sheet Metal Workers to join a well-established aerospace manufacturing business in Greater Manchester.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with general or commercial sheet metal experience who want to develop their skills and progress into aerospace-standard sheet metal work.

Full training and ongoing mentoring will be provided, but applicants must already have some practical experience working with thin aluminium or steel.

The Role

You will support the manufacture and preparation of precision sheet metal components while receiving structured training from experienced aerospace professionals.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Marking out sheet metal components accurately.
  • Bending and forming thin aluminium and steel.
  • Drilling and preparing materials generally under 2mm thick.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
  • Measuring components and checking work against drawings and specifications.
  • Using appropriate hand tools, measuring equipment and workshop machinery.
  • Completing work accurately and to the required quality standards.
  • Following safe working practices and company procedures.
  • Maintaining a clean, tidy and organised work area.
  • Working in accordance with the company's established 5S standards.
  • Developing your skills through practical training and mentoring.
  • Progressing from general or commercial sheet metal work into aerospace-standard manufacturing.

Skills and Experience Required

To be considered for this position, you should have

  • Previous general, commercial or manufacturing sheet metal experience.
  • Practical experience marking out, bending, forming and drilling sheet metal.
  • Experience working with thin aluminium or steel, ideally materials under 2mm thick.
  • The ability to read and understand engineering or technical drawings.
  • Good practical and mechanical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • A safety-focused approach to work.
  • A willingness to learn and develop within an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a production team.

Previous aerospace experience is not required, as training and mentoring will be provided.
