Project Engineer

Location: Greater Manchester – Permanent

We’re recruiting on behalf of a well-established precision engineering manufacturer supplying complex machined components into highly regulated industries, including aerospace and defence. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint a Project Engineer to join their customer-facing projects team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an engineering or manufacturing background who enjoys coordinating projects, working closely with customers and ensuring products are delivered on time and to specification.

The Role

As Project Engineer, you’ll act as the key point of contact for assigned customer accounts, managing projects from enquiry through to delivery. Working closely with production, planning, procurement and quality teams, you’ll ensure customer requirements are understood, communicated internally and delivered successfully.

You’ll also identify opportunities to improve processes, strengthen customer relationships and support future business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage customer projects from quotation through to delivery.
  • Review customer requirements and ensure they are translated into manufacturing plans.
  • Prepare quotations and respond to customer enquiries.
  • Monitor project progress, delivery schedules and order status.
  • Liaise with internal departments to resolve technical or production issues.
  • Build strong customer relationships through regular communication.
  • Support continuous improvement activities to enhance delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reports.

About You

You’ll ideally come from an engineering or manufacturing environment and enjoy working in a customer-focused project role.

Essential

  • Experience within engineering or manufacturing.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of project delivery.
  • Good Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Experience using ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of precision machining or CNC manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of purchasing or supply chain processes.
  • Project management qualification or experience managing engineering projects.
