The Opportunity
An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor to join a leading provider of Facilities Management and Construction services, supporting projects across the Defence Estate throughout London and the South East.
This is a hands-on, site-based position offering the opportunity to work within secure, highly regulated environments, supporting the safe delivery of maintenance, refurbishment and construction activities across a diverse property portfolio.
The successful candidate will work closely with operational teams, project managers and subcontractors, providing practical Health & Safety guidance while promoting a positive safety culture across multiple live sites.
Although the role includes some environmental responsibilities, the primary focus is Health & Safety and CDM compliance.
The Role
As the HSE Advisor, you’ll act as the Health & Safety lead across a variety of operational and project activities, ensuring compliance with legislation while supporting site teams with practical advice and guidance.
This is a predominantly site-based role requiring regular travel throughout London and the South East, with a company vehicle or car allowance provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical Health & Safety advice across construction, refurbishment and facilities management activities.
- Support compliance with CDM Regulations and current Health & Safety legislation.
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews.
- Review RAMS, Risk Assessments and Safe Systems of Work.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are implemented.
- Promote a proactive Health & Safety culture across operational teams and subcontractors.
- Support Project Managers and Engineers with compliance and best practice.
- Liaise with clients, stakeholders and management teams regarding HSE performance.
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement across Health & Safety processes.
About You

Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum of 5 years’ practical Health & Safety experience within a CDM environment.
- Strong knowledge of construction and facilities management Health & Safety practices.
- IOSH membership.
- Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Comfortable travelling across London and the South East.
- Eligible and willing to obtain and maintain SC Security Clearance.
Desirable
- Existing SC Clearance.
- CMIOSH status.
- Experience within Defence, MOD or other secure environments.
- Background supporting construction, refurbishment or hard FM projects.
