Quality Inspector - Electronics / Electro-Mechanical

Location: Hampshire
Hours: Full-Time

ABOUT THE ROLE

We're recruiting on behalf of a specialist engineering organisation designing and manufacturing advanced technologies used in some of the world's most demanding environments.

Their systems enable customers to discover, navigate, measure, detect and communicate across critical maritime, energy, environmental and defence applications.

This is a hands-on inspection role focused on ensuring electronic, electrical and electro-mechanical assemblies meet the highest standards of compliance and traceability before reaching customers.

You will work closely with Production, Engineering, Test and Supply Chain teams to identify quality concerns, support their resolution and ensure only compliant products leave the facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Carry out detailed inspections of PCBs, cables and electro-mechanical assemblies from internal manufacturing and external suppliers
  • Perform patrol inspections across production and test areas to maintain high standards
  • Review technical drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), assembly documentation and parts lists to verify compliance
  • Identify quality issues and raise observations through internal reporting systems
  • Verify certification and traceability documentation associated with incoming materials and components
  • Inspect coils, cables, battery packs and other assemblies for labelling and compliance
  • Support inspection and basic testing activities for batteries and simple PCB assemblies following training
  • Prioritise inspection activities to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments
  • Maintain accurate quality records within the SYSPRO ERP system
  • Prepare reject documentation where required
  • Authorise products as fit for despatch and support final quality sign-off activities
  • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Test and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across Quality and Operations
  • Promote and maintain a strong culture of safety, quality and compliance

  • Confident working with electronic, electrical and electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Comfortable interpreting technical drawings, assembly documentation and parts lists
  • Methodical and organised, with excellent attention to detail
  • Confident identifying and challenging quality issues when required
  • Strong communicator who can work effectively across Production, Engineering, Test and Supply Chain
  • Comfortable working within a structured engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Committed to maintaining high standards of quality and compliance

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Experience inspecting electronic, electrical or electro-mechanical assemblies
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, assembly documentation and parts lists
  • Knowledge of PCB assembly processes, including surface mount and through-hole technologies
  • Understanding of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) requirements and controls
  • Experience using computer-based systems and Microsoft Office applications

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience within an engineering or manufacturing environment
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems, such as SYSPRO
  • Soldering skills
  • Familiarity with quality control processes and inspection methodologies
