We are looking for an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer to join an innovative engineering business developing cutting‑edge subsea technology.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a highly skilled engineering team responsible for designing advanced underwater instrumentation, including acoustic modems, Doppler Velocity Logs and data logging systems.

This role would suit an experienced Electronics Hardware Engineer looking to take ownership of new product development and become a technical authority within the business.

You will play a key role in the design, development and continuous improvement of industry‑leading electronic systems while working closely with software, systems and production engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop analogue and digital electronic hardware for advanced subsea products.
  • Lead hardware design reviews and provide technical guidance throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Develop embedded firmware using Embedded C and support implementation on microprocessor‑based systems.
  • Design reliable low‑power, low‑noise electronic circuits for demanding environments.
  • Support EMC design, testing and standards compliance throughout product development.
  • Produce clear and detailed engineering documentation to support manufacturing and future product development.
  • Carry out hands‑on electronics and embedded software fault finding.
  • Work closely with production and multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure successful product delivery.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement across the engineering function.
  • Key Skills & Experience
  • Degree qualified (2:1 or above) in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong commercial experience in analogue and digital electronics design.
  • Experience designing FPGA and microprocessor‑based systems.
  • Embedded C programming experience with a working knowledge of C++.
  • Experience designing low‑power and low‑noise electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of EMC design principles and EMC testing.
  • Experience using Altium for schematic capture and PCB design.
  • Strong electronics fault‑finding and debugging skills.
  • Excellent technical documentation and communication skills.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience developing electronics for marine, defence, aerospace or other safety‑critical industries.
  • Knowledge of relevant EMC standards such as EN60945.
  • Experience supporting products through manufacture and production.
  • Passion for innovation and continuous technical development.
