Role Overview
We are supporting a leading facilities management organisation in the appointment of a Commercial Manager to take full responsibility for the commercial, financial, and contractual performance of a major public sector property portfolio contract in Wales. This is a key leadership position within the team, overseeing all commercial governance, client engagement, and supply chain performance. You will also manage and develop two Commercial Assistants, ensuring robust commercial control and reporting across the contract lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial function across a large-scale public sector FM contract.
- Act as the primary commercial interface for the client and internal stakeholders.
- Manage all contractual matters including client, subcontractor, and supply chain agreements.
- Oversee cost control, forecasting, financial governance, and contract compliance.
- Manage valuations, applications for payment, change control, and compensation events.
- Produce and present accurate monthly commercial and financial reporting using SAP-based systems.
- Ensure robust commercial risk management processes are in place and maintained.
- Support procurement activities, subcontractor performance management, and contract negotiations.
- Work closely with operational teams to ensure alignment between delivery and commercial performance.
- Lead, manage, and develop two Commercial Assistants within the team.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Commercial Manager, Senior Quantity Surveyor, or similar commercial leadership role.
- Background in facilities management, maintenance, property services, or small works contracts preferred.
- Strong experience managing public sector contracts or framework agreements.
- Excellent commercial awareness with strong contractual knowledge.
- High proficiency in Excel for financial analysis and reporting.
- Experience with SAP or similar enterprise finance systems (advantageous).
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction, or a related discipline (desirable but not essential).
