About the Role: We are seeking an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead the delivery of complex engineering projects within the maritime sector. This role is ideally suited to candidates who have progressed from an engineering discipline into project management and can confidently engage with customers and technical teams. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience delivering technically complex systems and products, ideally involving systems engineering, electronics, sensing technologies, instrumentation, systems integration, or multidisciplinary engineering environments. Experience within defence, maritime or other highly regulated industries would be highly advantageous. Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Delivery: Deliver projects on time, within budget and to specification. Ensure projects are properly planned, resourced and executed. Assist with Non-Recurring Engineering (NRE) cost estimations. Monitor project costs and escalate deviations where appropriate. Create, maintain and communicate detailed project plans, milestones and deliverables.
- Technical & Engineering Delivery: Work closely with engineering teams across design, integration, manufacturing and testing activities. Confidently engage with customers on technical and project matters. Support delivery across the full product lifecycle from concept through to manufacture and deployment. Support development of technical documentation, specifications and testing activities.
- Risk & Governance: Identify, assess and mitigate project risks, issues and dependencies. Lead and participate in project and gateway reviews. Ensure compliance with internal standards and customer requirements.
- Customer & Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong customer relationships. Act as a key interface between engineering teams and customers. Provide clear communication and project visibility to stakeholders at all levels.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
Essential:
- Strong engineering background with the ability to confidently engage with customers and technical teams.
- Experience delivering projects involving multidisciplinary engineering teams.
- Working knowledge of product development lifecycles.
- Strong customer-facing and stakeholder management experience.
- Strong project delivery capability across complex technical environments.
Desirable:
- Experience delivering defence-sector projects.
- Experience with systems engineering, electronics, sensing technologies, instrumentation or integrated products.
- Experience within product development, NPI or regulated engineering environments.
- APM PMQ, PRINCE2 or equivalent qualification.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Degree (BSc/BEng or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Security Clearance: Ability to obtain UK Security Clearance is essential.
