The Opportunity
We are supporting an organisation with responsibility for a diverse property estate, who are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join their technical team. This is a varied role covering electrical design, project delivery, compliance and contractor management, with involvement from initial feasibility and design through to completion. The role also has a strong focus on energy efficiency and low-carbon electrical solutions, alongside technical and commercial oversight of electrical works.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and review electrical systems and engineering solutions across a varied property estate
- Produce and manage CAD drawings, specifications, reports and schedules of works
- Carry out feasibility studies, condition surveys and defect investigations
- Oversee electrical projects from concept through to completion
- Manage and monitor contractors, including site inspections and contract administration
- Provide technical oversight of projects, including budget and cost control
- Ensure electrical works meet relevant legislation, standards and compliance requirements
- Support the delivery of energy efficiency and low-carbon initiatives
- Work closely with internal teams, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years' Electrical Engineering experience in the UK
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience
- Strong experience in electrical design and project delivery
- Experience managing contractors and construction contracts
- Good understanding of budget management and cost control
- Strong knowledge of relevant electrical engineering legislation and standards
- Understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and the Building Safety Act 2022
- Understanding of the RIBA Plan of Work or equivalent
- Strong CAD/design skills and ability to produce and interpret technical documentation
- Evidence of ongoing CPD
Desirable: CEng or working towards chartership, Building Services experience, mechanical engineering knowledge, public sector experience, and a background delivering energy efficiency or decarbonisation projects.
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer who can combine strong technical design knowledge with project, contractor and commercial management. You should be comfortable working independently, dealing with multiple stakeholders and taking responsibility for delivering compliant, cost-effective engineering solutions across a varied estate. Experience in building services, estates, construction or a similar regulated environment would be particularly relevant.
