We’re supporting a long-established aerospace engineering and manufacturing business in Greater Manchester, currently looking to appoint a Production Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations within a busy sheet metal manufacturing environment. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to an experienced manufacturing supervisor with a strong sheet metal or fabrication background, ideally from aerospace or other precision engineering sectors. You’ll play a key role across production delivery, people management, quality, safety, and continuous improvement, working closely with production planning and senior management to ensure operational targets are achieved. The position offers excellent long-term progression within a stable, growing engineering business supplying into highly regulated industries.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily production activities within the sheet metal manufacturing area
  • Supervise operators and team leaders to ensure production targets and delivery schedules are achieved
  • Promote and enforce safe working practices and maintain high 5S standards across the shopfloor
  • Monitor production performance, labour utilisation, and operational efficiency
  • Support continuous improvement and waste reduction initiatives using lean manufacturing principles
  • Allocate work effectively based on operator capability, workload, and production priorities
  • Ensure aerospace quality standards and customer specifications are consistently met
  • Support problem solving and root cause investigation relating to production or quality issues
  • Work closely with planning and production management to maintain delivery schedule adherence (DSA)
  • Support operator training, development, and skills progression across the department
  • Maintain awareness of environmental and sustainability standards within manufacturing operations
  • Contribute to improvements in manufacturing processes, capacity planning, and operational performance

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience within a manufacturing environment is essential
  • Ideally time-served in Sheet Metal, Fabrication, or a related engineering discipline
  • Strong understanding of sheet metal manufacturing processes including: CNC punching / routing or material cutting, heat treatment, press brake operation, hand forming / rubber press forming, aerospace inspection methods
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and aerospace specifications
  • Experience using MRP / production planning systems
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, waste elimination, and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Excellent communication and people management skills
  • Energetic, proactive, and able to operate effectively within a fast-paced manufacturing environment
