We are currently partnering with a leading engineering and facilities services provider to recruit a Facilities Technician for a permanent position based at a manufacturing site in St Athan, South Wales. This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled maintenance professional with a background in electrical or mechanical engineering to join a multi-disciplined facilities team, responsible for the planned and reactive maintenance of building fabric, HVAC systems, electrical distribution, plant rooms and associated site infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across site facilities and infrastructure
- Undertake reactive maintenance and fault finding, prioritising work based on criticality
- Repair and maintain building fabric, HVAC systems, electrical distribution and plant room equipment
- Identify and report additional reactive maintenance requirements
- Support improvements to existing PPM systems and maintenance processes
- Identify opportunities to improve working practices and customer assets
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with relevant H&S requirements
- Complete and adhere to appropriate risk assessments and method statements
- Support the implementation of contingency procedures for equipment and asset breakdowns
- Manage and coordinate subcontractors in line with site requirements
- Support the achievement of departmental KPIs and contractual targets
- Work collaboratively with the wider technical team and subcontractors
- Provide support to out-of-hours reactive maintenance when required
Key Skills & Experience:
- NVQ Level 2 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
- HNC/NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent is desirable
- Experience within a facilities, maintenance or engineering environment
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capabilities
- Experience with HVAC systems including AHUs, ACUs and FCUs
- Knowledge of LV electrical systems
- Experience with electrical modifications and installations
- Understanding of H&S systems and procedures
- Knowledge of refrigeration / F-Gas would be advantageous
- Experience with compressed air systems, gas boilers/burners or hot water systems would be beneficial
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplined team
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Organised, systematic and analytical approach to work
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and use your own initiative
