DCS Engineering are looking for an experienced Technical Buyer to join our clients dynamic manufacturing procurement team. This role plays a key part in sourcing materials, goods, and services to support efficient and cost-effective operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure accurate sourcing.
  • Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers based on capability, quality, delivery, and reliability.
  • Manage day-to-day procurement activity to meet MRP demands and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Lead price and contract negotiations to secure favourable terms, costs, and schedules.
  • Create and manage purchase orders in line with company policies and compliance standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to understand project requirements and resolve queries efficiently.
  • Drive cost-saving and supply chain optimisation initiatives to support business objectives.
  • Monitor supplier performance, manage risk, and address issues related to material quality, delivery, or pricing.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of procurement systems and processes.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience as a Technical Buyer within an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of procurement processes, supply chain management, and MRP systems (ERP experience required).
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Ability to interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Degree or professional qualification in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Experience in a global industry role is advantageous.
