A well-established engineering business is looking to appoint a Technical Account Manager to manage and grow key customer relationships within the industrial automation sector. This is a commercially focused role suited to someone who understands technical project environments and has a track record of building and expanding client accounts.

About the Role: Operating from our office in Widnes, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing ongoing customer relationships, supporting the quoting process alongside technical teams, and identifying opportunities for growth — including high-value projects (up to £1M).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and develop long-term relationships with existing clients
  • Support the commercial side of technical project delivery
  • Collaborate with technical managers on proposals, quotations, and client presentations
  • Identify and nurture new business opportunities within established accounts
  • Track and follow up on leads, tenders, and CRM activity
  • Work with marketing and operations to support targeted campaigns and growth strategies
  • Represent the business in client meetings, both on-site and remotely
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role within automation, control systems, or industrial engineering
  • Strong commercial acumen and a proven track record in account growth
  • Comfortable managing high-value projects and navigating complex sales cycles
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to work independently
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and structured sales processes
Desirable:
  • Background in electrical or control engineering
  • Experience supporting technical teams or project managers in a sales/commercial capacity
