Bournemouth or Teesside | Permanent | Full-Time (37 Hours)

An established and highly respected aerospace and defence aviation organisation is seeking a Compliance Engineer, Technical to join its growing Compliance & Airworthiness function. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced aviation compliance professional to work within a highly regulated operational environment supporting both civil and military aviation programmes across the UK and internationally.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring ongoing compliance with aviation regulations, technical standards and quality management systems, while supporting the continued development of operational approvals and assurance activities across the business.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Compliance Manager, the Compliance Engineer – Technical will act as a key technical compliance focal point across the organisation, supporting engineering, maintenance and operational teams in maintaining the highest standards of regulatory compliance and airworthiness assurance. This role offers exposure to a broad range of aviation regulatory frameworks including UK CAA, MAA, EASA and international standards, making it ideal for candidates with strong technical governance, audit and regulatory experience within aerospace, defence or highly regulated engineering environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance & Regulatory Assurance
    • Deliver compliance assurance activities across technical and engineering operations in accordance with: UK CAA regulations, Military Aviation Authority (MAA) requirements, EASA regulations, Additional international aviation standards where applicable.
    • Conduct internal and external audits across operational and technical functions.
    • Support ongoing compliance monitoring activities within the Business Management System.
    • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and associated procedures.
    • Manage audit findings, non-conformances and corrective action plans through to closure.
    • Support the maintenance and development of company expositions, manuals and regulatory approvals.
    • Assist with regulatory submissions and approval activities.
  • Technical Governance & Standards
    • Provide technical and regulatory guidance across engineering and operational departments.
    • Monitor changes in aviation legislation, regulatory publications and international standards.
    • Ensure regulatory updates are effectively incorporated into internal processes and documentation.
    • Support administration and oversight of technical compliance systems including: Capability listings, Compliance records, Technical approvals.
  • Safety & Continuous Improvement
    • Promote a positive safety culture aligned with company SHE and operational standards.
    • Support risk assessments and implementation of safe systems of work.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across compliance and quality functions.
    • Drive best practice within technical governance and assurance activities.

Candidate Requirements

  • Essential Experience & Qualifications
    • Strong working knowledge of: UK CAA regulations, MAA regulations, EASA requirements, FAA and/or MAOS frameworks.
    • Experience conducting audits within a regulated aviation or aerospace environment.
    • Previous experience operating within a Quality Management System.
    • Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor qualification (ISO 9001 or equivalent).
    • Strong understanding of technical compliance, airworthiness and regulatory governance.
    • Excellent documentation, reporting and stakeholder engagement skills.
    • UK Part 66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence (AML).
    • Experience working within military aviation environments.
    • Knowledge of Safety Management Systems (SMS).
    • Experience supporting regulatory approvals and exposition management.
    • Familiarity with complex engineering or defence programmes.
