An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Nursing Associate to work with us at our friendly GP surgery. We are looking for a candidate who is full of enthusiasm and ready for challenge, to join our nursing team. The role will be varied and cover all aspects of Practice Nursing offering a high standard of continued patient centred care to our patient population. We are happy to consider soon-to-be registered applicants who are close to the end of their training.
Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, safe and effective care and support to patients.
- Provide effective evidence-based care for service users under the supervision of registered nurses to perform non-complex activities, in line with clinical governance and professional standards.
- Assist and perform routine nursing tasks related to patient care, such as venepuncture, routine BP checks, ECG, BMI, lifestyle advice, health checks, screening and annual reviews as directed and agreed with line manager, registered general nurses and GPs.
- Support the Practice Nurses with the management of patients with long-term conditions/chronic diseases, using a holistic patient centred approach.
- Perform cervical smear screening on completion of training as guidance RCN Position Statement on Registered Nursing Associates (RNAs) training in cervical sample taking.
- Administer medications as prescribed and in accordance with NMC standards under Patient Specific Directions.
- Prioritise and manage own workload.
- Maintain accurate, contemporaneous patient records in line with Trust policy and the NMC Code.
- Follow agreed protocols with referral to Practice Nurse or GPs as appropriate to promote health and well-being and prevent adverse effects on health and well-being.
- Deliver opportunistic health promotion using opportunities such as new patient medicals and NHS health checks.
