A little bit about the role

We're looking for a Legal Counsel to join our Legal & Compliance team, supporting the Energy Management Services businesses across Great Britain.

Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you'll provide practical and commercially focused legal advice across a broad range of matters.

This is an opportunity to develop your in-house career in a varied role where no two days are the same.

You'll work closely with stakeholders across multiple businesses and legal entities, supporting commercial contracts, regulatory matters, governance activities, risk management and strategic projects.

You'll be encouraged to build relationships across the organisation, develop your expertise and become a trusted adviser to the business.

Whether you already have in-house experience or are looking to make the transition from private practice, this role offers excellent exposure, support and opportunities for professional growth.

  • What you'll be doing
  • Providing day-to-day legal support across the Energy Management Services businesses.
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial agreements.
  • Advising on customer, supplier, consultancy, installation, maintenance and service contracts.
  • Supporting renewable energy, solar, heat pump, HVAC and energy efficiency projects.
  • Assisting with legal risk management and compliance activities.
  • Supporting governance and regulatory matters across multiple businesses.
  • Working with colleagues across operational, commercial and leadership teams to identify practical solutions to legal issues.
  • Supporting dispute management and engagement with external legal advisers where required.
  • Assisting with corporate, property, acquisition and integration projects.
  • Contributing to legal templates, guidance materials and continuous improvement initiatives.

What we're looking for

We're interested in hearing from qualified Solicitors or Barristers who enjoy working collaboratively and providing practical legal advice in a commercial environment.

You may have experience

  • Advising on commercial contracts.
  • Supporting stakeholders in a business-facing legal role.
  • Working within private practice, an in-house legal team, or a combination of both.
  • Supporting regulated industries such as energy, infrastructure, construction, utilities or consumer services.

Most importantly, you'll be able to

  • Build effective working relationships across a range of stakeholders.
  • Communicate legal issues clearly and confidently.
  • Balance legal risk with commercial objectives.
  • Manage a varied workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Take a proactive and solutions-focused approach.

If you don't meet every requirement but feel you could be a good fit for the role, we'd still encourage you to apply.

Why join us?

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing business operating at the heart of the energy transition.

In return, you'll benefit from

  • A broad and varied in-house legal role.
  • Exposure to a diverse range of businesses and stakeholders.

  • Support from an experienced legal leadership team.
  • The opportunity to contribute to innovative energy and sustainability projects.
