Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent. 36.5hrs (Mon-Thur 9am-5pm; Fri 9am-4pm) - 30 mins lunch break.

Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum based on experience

Role Overview

The Group Head of Finance will lead the finance function across both Direct Collection Bailiffs Limited (DCBL) and DCB Legal (and any new ventures), ensuring strong financial governance, regulatory compliance, and commercial support to the Board. The role will involve day to day transactional work.

Role and Tasks

  • Lead, develop and mentor the Finance function ensuring strong financial governance and regulatory compliance.
  • Create a multiskilled finance function with full cross training for business continuity.
  • Ensuring the month end timetable is adhered to by being hands on where required.
  • Ensure client accounts remain compliant, taking corrective action as needed.
  • Assist production and review of monthly management accounts for both companies.
  • Ensure accuracy of P&L, Balance Sheet and Cash flow reporting.
  • Manage month end and year end close process.
  • Complete and assist with statutory filing and returns.
  • Liaise with external auditors and manage annual audit process.
  • Lead on the Statutory Accounts with support from the Group Finance Director and Group CFO.
  • MI reporting / KPI Dashboard for key performance tracking across the business.
  • Testing operational and financial processes for points of failure.
  • Bank approvals for all outgoing payments.
  • Manage risk register.
  • Review the credit control function and processes.
  • Implement process efficiencies.
  • Preparation of weekly payroll and look to bring the full process in house.
  • Processing of the weekly pensions and reconciliations.
  • Assist set up new verticals of the business - including accounting software set up and reporting.
  • Assist the build of a rolling 5 year forecast for the group.
  • Evaluate potential financial systems upgrades.

Essential Person Specification

  • Qualified Accountant - ACA / ACCA / CIMA
  • Financial Reporting - Strong UK Gaap Knowledge
  • Leadership - Experience Managing a Finance Team
  • Commercial Acumen - Board-level decision support experience
  • Systems & Controls - Advanced Excel and accounting software proficiency
  • Cash Flow Management - Strong forecasting and working capital management
  • Tax & Compliance - VAT, Corporation Tax, Payroll oversight
  • Communication Skills - Clear presentation to non-finance stakeholders
  • Personal Attributes - High integrity, analytical, proactive

Highly Desirable

  • Prior use and knowledge of Sage
  • Experience in setting up companies on Finance Systems
  • Experience in assisting the sale of a privately owned business
  • Ability to produce payroll from start to end with HMRC compliance
