We are seeing a period of exceptional growth in our medical and scientific sector team at the moment in response to a wide range of exciting long-term project requests.
As a result, we are able to offer exciting career opportunities for outstanding mechanical or robotics/electronics engineers with extensive medical product development and project management experience as part of our growing, dynamic medical and scientific sector team.
You will be working alongside other exceptional individuals to help develop and implement our medical and scientific sector marketing plan. This will involve pitching to potential clients, creating detailed costed proposals and nurturing long-term relationships with key strategic clients. You will be expected to plan and manage a diverse range of exciting and complex medical product development projects against challenging timescales and budgets, while also taking on the technical lead role on these projects.
We operate in multi-functional project teams and as a Sector Manager in our medical and scientific sector you will need to work closely with designers, mechanical, electronics and software engineers and other skill teams to integrate the visual and functional aspects of medical products and create class-leading designs that deliver real benefits to their users.
Most of the products we design go to market and are highly visible. It’s always very rewarding to see the products you have helped design delivering success for our clients and improving people’s lives.
What we expect
- Considerable experience of delivering successful medical development projects within an ISO 13485 quality framework.
- Ideally, you will have experience of working within a consultancy environment, balancing quality, cost, timescale and risk targets.
- Ability to plan, quote and manage the financial and commercial aspects of medical product development projects, as well as leading the technical work. This will involve selecting and organising the team, managing budgets and timescales, and working closely with the client’s project team.
- Able to guide, support and check the work of your multi-disciplinary project team.
- Creative problem-solving skills, generating innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.
- Good verbal and written communication skills with clients, suppliers and colleagues.
- Travel to medical industry events (Including International events) such as trade shows, seminars, conferences to represent DCA.
- Supporting the development and delivery of the medical and scientific sector marketing initiatives, including writing articles and delivering presentations.
- Establishing and building strong, long-term relationships with our strategic clients.

What you need
- A 1st or Upper 2nd degree in mechanical, mechatronics or design engineering from a university with a strong engineering reputation, or an equivalent technical qualification.
- Have strong experience working in a medical product design or development environment, applying Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools and computational techniques to deliver medical and scientific product solutions, utilising a wide range of manufacturing processes and materials.
- A track record of delivering exceptional results across a range of medical projects.
- A track record of successfully managing multi-disciplinary medical projects and client relations.
- For this role, we will expect you to work in our Warwick studios (5 days managing projects), so you must be prepared to commute or relocate and you must be eligible to work in the UK.
- Knowledge of and experience in high-volume manufacturing processes such as injection moulding.
- To lead by example in setting standards with a “can-do” attitude that inspires colleagues and clients.
