Puzzler, part of DC Thomson media company, are hiring a Puzzle Application Editor – Digital on a 14 month fixed term basis in Reigate, UK to deliver and launch a key digital project. The Puzzle Application Editor will deliver high‑quality, scalable puzzle content that supports the growth of digital subscription and B2B revenue streams across multiple territories. They will translate editorial standards and audience insight into repeatable, data‑informed content production, working across product, technology and commercial teams to drive usage, retention and monetisation of puzzle products.

The oldest puzzle brand in the UK, Puzzler has a 50-year-old heritage that creates puzzles for the newspapers under the DC Thomson Brand (Courier, Press & Journal, The Sunday Post, etc), as well as magazines (Stylist, My Weekly), and even the Beano comic books! The team also create puzzles for other publications and export their puzzles to Canada and the USA.

The Puzzle Application Editor – Games will ensure content is accurate, engaging, culturally relevant and optimised for digital delivery, while contributing to the evolution of automated puzzle generation capabilities and content localisation at scale. The successful candidate will be accountable for end‑to‑end creation, validation and delivery of puzzle content across mobile and digital platforms for multi‑territory audiences (UK, US, Australia and selected European markets). This role operates across editorial, product and technology in a matrix model, contributing to both B2C and B2B product pipelines and supporting localisation in multiple languages.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Content Quality & Accuracy - Deliver error‑free, engaging and brand‑aligned puzzle content with 100% completion of QA standards prior to release, maintaining consistency across all formats and markets.
  • Digital Content Production & Delivery - Produce and deliver multi‑format puzzle content to agreed schedules and budgets, achieving on‑time delivery targets and zero duplication across platforms and territories.
  • Data‑Informed Content Optimisation - Use audience, engagement and performance data to refine puzzle formats, difficulty levels and themes, improving retention and usage metrics over time.
  • Automation & Tooling Contribution (AI / Data) - Actively contribute to the improvement of the Alph puzzle‑generation engine by testing outputs, identifying defects and recommending enhancements to increase automation accuracy and reduce manual effort.
  • Multi‑Market Localisation & Compliance - Ensure all content is culturally appropriate and linguistically accurate across target markets, maintaining compliance with editorial standards and audience sensitivities.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration - Work effectively across editorial, product, commercial and technology teams to align content with product goals, customer needs and revenue opportunities.
