The Data Science & Analytics Team at DC Thomson are recruiting for an experienced Data Analyst to join our team in either London, Dundee, or Glasgow. This role supports a data‑driven culture and offers exposure to a variety of projects across different industries, brands and internal teams at a leading technology, information and media company. The Data Analyst will provide clear, accurate and timely insights to enable evidence‑based decision‑making and will turn complex, multi‑source datasets into structured reports, dashboards and analysis that teams can trust.

Responsibilities

  • Standard Reporting & Dashboards – Build and maintain accurate, timely dashboards and reports that enable daily decision‑making.
  • Data Preparation & Structure – Assist with data extraction, cleaning and basic modelling to ensure reliable inputs for analysis and visuals.
  • Ad‑hoc Analysis – Deliver clear, concise analysis to answer defined business questions within agreed timelines.
  • Quality & Documentation – Apply checks, validate numbers against sources and maintain definitions so outputs are trusted and repeatable.
  • Stakeholder Support – Gather requirements, communicate status and ensure outputs are understandable and actionable.
  • Continuous Improvement – Suggest small process/automation enhancements that reduce manual effort and improve consistency.

Requirements

Skills

  • Essential: BI tools – e.g., Looker (preferred), Tableau, Power BI; SQL; Event Tracking and Web/App Analytics – Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and/or Snowplow.
  • Desirable: Using dbt for modelling data; Python; Data Warehousing (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift) and ETL (e.g., FiveTran); Subscription Product Experience; Consumer App/Web Analytics.

Experience

  • Demonstrable level of data literacy and ability to extract business needs from data requirements.
  • Ability to explain data to a less technical audience that influences key decision making.
  • Assisting with collecting and analysing data; applies basic techniques to identify trends and prepare findings for review.
  • Supporting data structuring and simple models/tables to enable reporting and analysis.
  • Creating clear, accurate visuals and dashboards that communicate key messages to non‑technical users.
  • Planning own tasks, tracking progress and meeting agreed time/quality targets within small work packages.
  • Communicating with stakeholders to clarify needs and share outputs using agreed channels.
