Beano Brain is seeking someone who is passionate about kids and families and an advocate of the role that authentic youth insight can play in driving brands’ most impactful business decisions. A person who has an established skill set within qualitative research and project management, this highly self-motivated person is looking for a new challenge and a step up in the next stage of their career with scope for rapid progression. They have a passion for Generation Alpha insights and experience (professional or otherwise) with the US market, in particular.
The ideal individual for this role is excited by the opportunity to be an important team member in the fast-growing Beano Brain business, with a strong emphasis on US and global client accounts. They will be supported by passionate, expert kids insight colleagues and get to work extensively with an exciting roster of US and global clients who need inspiration about, guidance around and connection with kids, teens and their families.
Role PurposeTo support the senior Beano Brain insight team on delivering thought-provoking and business-transforming insight work for larger clients / global projects.
To self-sufficiently manage smaller US only projects with the support and guidance of senior Beano Brain team members.
To support the Beano Brain team with logistics & project management relating to growing our US and global client accounts.
Key Responsibilities- Client Fieldwork management: To manage and co-ordinate client insight projects, including liaising with recruitment partners in the US and globally, including cost collation, helping prepare research proposals, project set up, local partner/supplier management, preparing recruitment briefs and reviewing screeners, overseeing recruitment progression.
- Qualitative research projects for external clients: You will take part in client meetings and be part of the briefing and proposal process. You will feed into the design of insight projects, with guidance from Directors, including drafting discrete parts of client proposals, including taking the lead on the design and writing of smaller insight project proposals & approaches. You will prepare, manage and carry out quality ad hoc research, from initiation to completion, including writing pre-tasks and discussion guides for qualitative research methods (including in-depth interviews, mini-groups, workshops etc). To manage and run digital research communities for clients (e.g. on Indeemo, Recollective etc), including writing and uploading online community guides. You will moderate fieldwork with kids, teens, parents and other relevant audiences, including individual depth interviews, mini groups and co-creation sessions (both digital and in-person). This may include in the UK, but your priority will be US and global projects. You will be a key contributor to analysis and output discussions/brainstorms. You will independently write sections of insightful, persuasive and action-inspiring debrief presentations alongside the senior project team. You will take a lead on writing topline presentations in collaboration with more junior members of the project team. You will help present insights to Beano Brain clients with support from the senior team.
- Supporting in US Growth: In addition to playing a key role in US projects, you will also be integral to the growth of the Beano Brain business in the US. You will stay abreast of US-specific youth trends and grow into your own POV on the US market. You may feed into US marketing communications - in liaison with the Marketing team – and play a role in outreach to keep Beano Brain’s US client base engaged. You will be aware of youth & family trends and actively contribute in sharing your wider knowledge, expertise and areas of interest to the wider team – both within scheduled Beano Brain Knowledge Share sessions and more informally. You will be an advocate for Beano Brain’s kids and family thought leadership, both within project work and across the wider research industry.
- Educated to degree level (preferable but not essential).
- Experience with and interest in the US market, ways of working, and/or culture more broadly.
- Interest in and curiosity for youth culture/trends/associated brand world.
- Project management experience / able to work with field to ensure projects and recruitment run smoothly.
- Sound understanding and application of qualitative research methods and techniques.
- Able to interpret quantitative results.
- 2+ years experience moderating 1:1 sessions and online communities, ideally mini-groups.
- Strong analytical skills and experience contributing to analysis sessions.
- Excellent lateral thinking skills, in particular an ability to look beyond the obvious.
- Ability to write discussion guides/pre-tasks/community guides with little support needed.
- Able to write sections of debriefs/output with guidance from seniors.
- Experience in contributing to the costing of domestic projects including writing requests for quotes to suppliers and putting together draft costs.
- Strong communication skills with different levels within the business/external suppliers.
- Highly proficient in PPT/Word.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Experience working with and moderating kids and teens, able to build quick rapport.
- Expertise in specific area of youth culture and/or families.
- Experience working on multi-market projects, especially the US.
- Experience working on mixed quant/qual projects.
- Experience utilising closed AI to boost efficiency in the insight space.
This role will be hybrid out of our Fleet Street (London) office and the candidate will be happy to commute to central London 2 days of the week. To facilitate cross-office collaboration, this individual’s core working hours will be 10am-6pm UK Monday-Friday. Note that a large portion of fieldwork for this role will take place in the US. This will mean regular, extensive travel opportunities to the US, spending 1 week in the US, approximately every 5-6 weeks. It will also mean conducting virtual fieldwork on US hours, including when in the UK.
