DC Thomson is a portfolio business operating in a fast‑changing external environment, where resilient operations, smart use of assets and continuous improvement are critical to success. We are looking for a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Multi‑Site) to play a key role in keeping our estate safe, compliant, reliable and cost‑effective. Based in Dundee and supporting multiple locations, you will take ownership of the performance of building assets and systems, ensuring they support business continuity across a diverse estate. This is a hands‑on engineering role within our Estates & Operations team.

You’ll deliver planned and reactive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, plumbing and HVAC systems, apply structured fault‑finding to prevent repeat failures, and work closely with colleagues, contractors and site stakeholders to minimise disruption. Operating in a portfolio environment, the role goes beyond “fixing faults”. You’ll use data and insight to improve asset performance, contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives, and share best practice across sites. Collaboration, curiosity and ownership are core to how we work, and you’ll be expected to actively contribute to a high‑performance, outcome‑driven culture.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Ownership of assigned asset performance, safety and statutory compliance
  • Delivery of planned preventative maintenance and effective reactive repairs
  • Root cause analysis to reduce downtime and improve reliability
  • Supervision of contractors and support for minor works and asset upgrades
  • Input into energy optimisation, lifecycle planning and continuous improvement
  • Participation in a rota‑based on‑call system to support critical operations

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys variety, takes pride in accountability and wants to make a tangible operational and commercial impact across a multi‑site estate.

Requirements:

  • Time‑served apprenticeship with City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Strong multi‑skilled capability across electrical and mechanical systems
  • Proven experience delivering maintenance in commercial, industrial or multi‑site environments
  • Confident fault‑finding and diagnostic skills in business‑critical settings
  • Sound understanding of health & safety, risk assessment and statutory compliance
  • Experience using maintenance systems (CMMS) and interpreting asset data
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to work across multiple sites
  • 18th Edition (BS7671)
  • HNC/HND in Engineering or Building Services
  • Experience with HVAC plant, BMS, UPS systems, generators or other critical infrastructure

You will thrive in this role if you:

  • Take clear ownership of asset performance and follow issues through to resolution
  • Are curious about how systems work and how they can be improved
  • Experiment with practical improvements and learn from outcomes
  • Work collaboratively across sites, sharing learning and best practice
  • Remain calm and effective in operationally critical or pressurised situations
  • Care deeply about safety, quality and professional standards

Closing date for applications: 30th April 2026 at 12:00 noon
