Role Overview
The Site Manager will take full ownership of a designated operational site, leading a team of mechanical fitters and supervisors. Acting as the ‘Controller of Premises’, you will ensure all safety, compliance and operational obligations are met. The role combines hands-on site leadership with line management responsibility for a team of approximately eight personnel. You will also act as the primary on-site contact for the client and support resource planning, coordination and project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the key point of contact for the designated client site
- Line manage a team of eight, including performance management, development, timesheet approval and HR matters
- Ensure compliance with company and client processes, procedures and health & safety regulations
- Maintain valid permits and authorisations (including Transfer of Controller of Premises documentation where required)
- Lead and coordinate on-site engineering activities to deliver work safely, on time and to specification
- Manage day-to-day site operations and progress of works
- Supervise mechanical fitters, supervisors, subcontractors and suppliers
- Coordinate logistics, materials, site access and permit requirements
- Provide direction, instruction and technical support to site teams
- Support the Project Manager with documentation including RAMS, construction phase plans and project programmes
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager, Team Leader or Supervisor within engineering or construction environments
- Strong ability to lead, manage and motivate site teams
- Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and site compliance requirements
- Excellent leadership, communication and problem-solving skills
- Relevant site qualifications (e.g. SMSTS or SSSTS, CSCS card, First Aid)
- Experience within water, utilities or mechanical engineering projects preferred
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK on a permanent basis
