The role involves installation, servicing, and repair of mechanical equipment, as well as supporting electrical teams on mechanical aspects of site work. You will play a key role in maintaining and improving mechanical assets while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. Mechanical Fitter Key Responsibilities β€’ Monitor and report project progress, highlighting any work outside of scope. β€’ Test mechanical systems and equipment using appropriate testing devices. β€’ Inspect mechanical systems and components to identify hazards or faults. β€’ Assemble, install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment using hand and power tools. β€’ Carry out mechanical tasks including pump replacement, screen installation, pipework installation, alignments, valve troubleshooting, and fault finding. β€’ Perform planned preventative maintenance on pumping systems and associated equipment. β€’ Ensure response times and service requirements are met. β€’ Support emergency and shutdown works when required. β€’ Complete point-of-work risk assessments. β€’ Follow and understand risk assessments and method statements. β€’ Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and site layouts. Mechanical Fitter Requirements β€’ GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths. β€’ Completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification. β€’ Experience within an engineering or mechanical environment. β€’ CSCS card (or equivalent). Desirable (Not Essential) β€’ EUSR Water & Sewage. β€’ PASMA. β€’ IPAF. β€’ Confined Space (High Risk). β€’ Abrasive Wheels. β€’ Working knowledge of pumps, pipework, motors, and screening equipment. β€’ Previous experience working in a site-based engineering environment. β€’ Strong work ethic with good communication skills. β€’ Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. β€’ Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
