A well-established engineering organisation operating within the UK water and environmental sector is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join its growing team on different sites. This company delivers specialist engineering services across infrastructure and environmental sites and is investing heavily in future projects. Location: Luton / Edmonton / Hoddesdon / Dartford

Salary: £20 - £21 per hour

Working hours: 7:30 am - 4:30 pm

Role Overview:

As a Mechanical Fitter, you will carry out installation, maintenance, and repair work across a range of mechanical systems on-site. You will be part of a wider team delivering projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical equipment
  • Fault finding and troubleshooting mechanical systems
  • Working on pumps, pipework, valves, and associated equipment
  • Reading and interpreting technical drawings and schematics
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance
  • Supporting reactive and emergency works when required
  • Ensuring all work is carried out in line with health & safety standards
  • Completing risk assessments and following method statements

Requirements:

  • Engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in an on-site mechanical engineering environment
  • Strong knowledge of pumps, motors, and pipework systems
  • CSCS card or equivalent
  • Additional tickets (EUSR, IPAF, PASMA, Confined Space, Abrasive Wheels) beneficial but not essential
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills and strong work ethic
