Role Overview:
The Mechanical Fitter will provide mechanical support across a range of operational projects. The role involves installation, servicing, and repair of mechanical equipment, as well as supporting electrical teams on mechanical aspects of site work. You will play a key role in maintaining and improving mechanical assets while ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and report project progress, highlighting any work outside of scope
- Test mechanical systems and equipment using appropriate testing devices
- Inspect mechanical systems and components to identify hazards or faults
- Assemble, install, maintain, and repair mechanical equipment using hand and power tools
- Carry out mechanical tasks including pump replacement, screen installation, pipework installation, alignments, valve troubleshooting, and fault finding
- Perform planned preventative maintenance on pumping systems and associated equipment
- Ensure response times and service requirements are met
- Support emergency and shutdown works when required
- Complete point-of-work risk assessments
- Follow and understand risk assessments and method statements
- Read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and site layouts
Requirements:
- GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Completed engineering apprenticeship or equivalent qualification
- Experience within an engineering or mechanical environment
- CSCS card (or equivalent)
Desirable (not essential):
- EUSR Water & Sewage
- PASMA
- IPAF
- Confined Space (High Risk)
- Abrasive Wheels
- Working knowledge of pumps, pipework, motors, and screening equipment
- Previous experience working in a site-based engineering environment
- Strong work ethic with good communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
