Type: Full-Time, Permanent About the Role We are looking for an experienced Lead Engineer to join a growing commercial plumbing and drainage company specialising in the hospitality sector.
This is a senior, hands-on position where you will act as the technical lead and work closely with the Managing Director, becoming their trusted "right-hand person" on all technical aspects of the business.
This role is ideal for someone who takes ownership, thrives on solving complex problems, and has the confidence to manage projects from initial inspection through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver commercial plumbing and drainage projects across Central London and Greater London from start to finish.
- Diagnose complex plumbing and drainage issues and develop practical, cost-effective solutions.
- Carry out site surveys and prepare accurate, detailed quotations.
- Produce comprehensive written reports following inspections and completed works.
- Manage projects through every stage, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.
- Work closely with the office team in Hatfield to coordinate engineers, schedules, materials and client communication.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients through professional communication and exceptional customer service.
- Ensure all work complies with current regulations, company procedures and health & safety requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and support to engineers where required. Essential Requirements
- Significant experience within commercial plumbing and drainage.
- Strong background working in the hospitality sector, including restaurants, hotels, bars and commercial kitchens.
- Proven experience in a Lead Engineer, Senior Engineer or Supervisory role.
- Stable employment history demonstrating long-term commitment within the industry.
- Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
- Ability to independently survey, scope, price and quote complex plumbing and drainage works.
- Experience managing projects from quotation through to completion.
- Strong report-writing skills with the ability to produce clear, professional quotations and technical reports.
- Excellent communication skills with clients, engineers and office staff.
- A proactive problem solver who uses initiative and thrives on finding solutions.
- High standards of workmanship and attention to detail.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
