Metal & Stainless Steel Welder Fabricator

Location: Weymouth

Salary: £19.00 per hour

Hours: Minimum 40 hours per week (average 48 hours per week)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Metal & Stainless Steel Welder Fabricator to join our team, supporting projects within the water industry. You will be working alongside mechanical and civil engineering teams to fabricate and assemble high-quality components used in water infrastructure and treatment systems.

Working Hours & Overtime

  • Standard working hours: 07:00 – 16:00, with a 1-hour unpaid break
  • Weekday hours are paid at the standard hourly rate
  • Overtime is typically available to meet project demands
  • Weekend shifts are paid at time and a half (£28.50 per hour)

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and weld mild steel and stainless steel components to engineering drawings and specifications
  • Perform MIG and TIG welding to a high standard
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and blueprints
  • Assemble fabricated parts for installation in water industry projects
  • Ensure all work meets quality, safety, and industry standards
  • Carry out inspections and basic quality checks on completed work
  • Collaborate with mechanical and civil engineers to meet project requirements
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a welder fabricator, particularly with stainless steel
  • Strong MIG and TIG welding skills
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings
  • Experience working on infrastructure, water industry, or similar engineering projects (preferred)
  • Good understanding of health & safety regulations
  • Strong attention to detail and workmanship quality
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable Skills

  • Previous experience in the water or utilities sector
  • Welding certifications (e.g., coded welding)
  • Experience with site installation work
