About the Job
Working for a very well-established company in Little Hulton, Manchester, to efficiently co-ordinate people, plant and materials, by liaising with relevant business functions to optimise the manufacturing process and delivery key performance objectives within the business framework. To support Manchester's site vision, to be the leading provider in its field, in accordance with the site values and behaviours. Reporting to the Plant Manager on a permanent position.

Principal Accountabilities:
Safety- Ensure that a safe working environment exists for all employees in their areas and that as a minimum, designated areas meet the standards set out in the SHE policy.
- Carry out behavioural audits and risk assessments in line with company policies.
- Be supportive, act with integrity, show enthusiasm and embrace openness.
- Effectively manage people resources through the attendance management policies and conduct disciplinary hearings up to written warning stage.
- Conduct the annual performance reviews utilising the current performance management structure, carrying out any capability reviews as required.
- Effectively mentor, coach and develop team members using the appropriate two-way communication channels.
- Support any recruitment activity for manufacturing roles and carry out inductions for new starters as required.
- Manage the day-to-day requirements of the team such as communicating the plan, appropriately manning the shift and organising overtime, where applicable.
- Lead the training and development of individuals within their areas to promote personal development and think about individual succession plans.
- Support and develop a positive culture where individuals are empowered to challenge the status quo and encourage feedback.
- Provide cover to other Team Leaders for sickness and holidays, where necessary and within reason of individual knowledge and skills.
- Conduct ongoing reviews of Standard Operating Procedures, re-writing such procedures as required in line with the Integrated Management System.
- Maintain standards of quality, food safety, hygiene and housekeeping within their areas including personal hygiene/CAYG standards.
- To represent the Company in a professional manner with both internal and external customers.
- Understand and implement lean manufacturing work practices to drive continuous improvement activity at site.
- To ensure the delivery of agreed KPIs.
- Communicate KPIs to the relevant individuals.
- Ensure KPIs are fully understood and that systems are in place to collect the necessary data, using standardised methodologies, as directed by your line manager.
- To ensure that the team is well informed regarding business updates, operational requirements and day to day running and that they develop effective cross-functional links.
- Ensure compliance with other general HR policies and procedures.
- Arrange and co-ordinate Planned Autonomous Maintenance activities in conjunction with the Planning and Engineering departments.
- To maintain least cost initiatives at all times, without compromising the integrity of product or safety.
- Facilitate seamless handovers to maximise the benefits of 24-hour continuous working.
- Experience of people management both with regards to HR/employment legislation and manning/resourcing levels.
- Proficient PC skills competency using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience of working in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience of Continuous Improvement/lean practices.
- Experience of coaching and developing individuals.
