DBR Group, acting as a Recruitment Agency, are recruiting for a FLT Counterbalance Chemical Production Operator to work at our client who are a household name in the Chemical Industry, based in Irlam, Manchester. Our client has been established for over 50 years and have been setting the standards in the provision of high-quality products and services to the chemical industry.

This job role is a permanent position.

Job brief

Working for a very well-established company in Irlam, Manchester, you will be working as a FLT Counterbalance Chemical Production Operator on a permanent position. At our client, they require you to be diligent and committed to ensure the materials coming onto site and leaving site are correct, safe and in good condition, as this will help ensure health and safety on site.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that all goods that are loaded or unloaded match the relevant paperwork in a timely fashion.
  • Taking responsibility for freight and assets; you are the first and last touchpoint for materials entering and leaving site.
  • Storing and rotating stock according to established procedures FIFO as a priority.
  • Reporting any damaged or missing goods to Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Keeping the warehouse and storage areas environment clean and tidy and maintaining equipment such as Forklift Trucks and warehouse office areas.
  • Following COMAH health and safety rules when handling goods.
  • Ensuring efficient operations by adhering to operational procedures, rules and schedules as set out by Operations Management Team.
  • Always treating chemical containers and equipment on site with care and concern.
  • Operate production equipment and machinery in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure efficient production output.
  • Assemble, package, and label products as required.
  • Conduct routine quality inspections and identify defects or non-conforming products.
  • Complete production documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform basic equipment checks and report faults, breakdowns, or maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment following 5S principles.
  • Follow all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
  • Meet daily production targets and performance standards.
  • Assist with changeovers and operational improvements.
  • Handle materials and products safely using appropriate equipment.
  • Participate in training, continuous improvement activities, and team meetings.
  • Support inventory and stock control activities when required.

Requirements and skills

  • Previous experience in a manufacturing, production, or warehouse environment.
  • Counterbalance Forklift Truck Licence is essential.
  • Chemical experience is desired but not essential.
  • Excellent team-working skills to effectively collaborate with other members of a warehouse team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of handling, storing, and labelling hazardous products.
  • Computer literacy, including relevant software programs Outlook, EFACS, Excel etc.
  • Excellent organisational and record-keeping skills to coordinate large volumes of goods.
  • Hands-on commitment to complete their assigned tasks quickly and safely.
  • Detail orientated mindset.
  • Honesty and trustworthiness.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • The ability to work effectively under limited supervision.
  • Chemical experience is advantageous as training will be provided.
  • Good attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

Desirable

  • Experience operating automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Experience working within lean manufacturing environments.
  • Knowledge of quality management systems and GMP standards.

  • Production output achieved versus target.
  • Product quality and defect rates.
  • Compliance with health and safety requirements.
  • Completion of production documentation.
  • Attendance and punctuality.

Remuneration

Salary is to be discussed further and is dependant on experience.

Shifts

12-hour shifts, 6am-6pm, in a rotation of:

  • Week 1: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday 6am to 6pm
  • Week 2: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 6pm to 6am
  • Week 3: Monday, Tuesday 6am to 6pm, Wednesday off and Thursday and Friday 6am to 6pm

No weekends.
