We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT tests in accordance with legal and safety standards, ensuring vehicles meet required roadworthiness criteria. Duties

  • Conduct MOT inspections on a variety of vehicle makes and models, adhering strictly to legal requirements and industry standards.
  • Perform comprehensive checks on vehicle components including brakes, lights, tyres, suspension, and exhaust systems.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to assist with repairs or adjustments identified during testing.
  • Document inspection results accurately and provide clear feedback to customers regarding any necessary repairs or maintenance.
  • Assist in maintaining the MOT bay, ensuring all equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
  • Support other workshop activities as required, including heavy lifting of vehicle parts or equipment in line with health and safety protocols.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as an MOT Tester or in a similar automotive testing role.
  • Mechanical knowledge with the ability to identify faults and assess vehicle safety standards effectively.
  • Competence in using hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, adhering to manual handling guidelines.
  • Relevant certification or qualification for MOT testing is preferred but not essential if extensive experience is demonstrated.
  • Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.
