Role summary: Responsible for coordinating and managing technical interfaces, design queries, assumptions, and decisions across multidisciplinary project teams. Acting as a key link between client product teams, internal design disciplines, and project stakeholders, the role ensures that integration risks, dependencies, and interface issues are identified, communicated, and resolved in a timely manner. The Integration Engineer supports effective project delivery by maintaining robust governance of design coordination processes and ensuring that critical assumptions and decisions are appropriately escalated and tracked throughout the project lifecycle.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Own and manage the Design Queries, Assumptions and Decisions (DQAD) process across the project.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of design queries, assumptions, actions, and decisions within the DQAD register.
  • Ensure timely progression, coordination, and close-out of actions assigned to DQAD entries.
  • Escalate key assumptions and decisions to the Project Risk Register where potential project impacts or uncertainties are identified.
  • Escalate significant assumptions and decisions to the Project Major Decisions & Assumptions Log in accordance with project governance requirements.
  • Liaise closely with the client product team to clarify requirements, validate assumptions, and support alignment on project objectives.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to resolve technical queries and integration challenges as they arise.
  • Identify, manage, and escalate issues affecting critical project interfaces and integration points.
  • Support cross-functional collaboration to ensure design consistency, interface alignment, and effective communication between stakeholders.
  • Contribute to risk mitigation activities by proactively identifying integration conflicts, gaps, or dependencies.
  • Support project reporting activities by providing updates on integration risks, open actions, and key decision items.

Formal qualifications or training

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Project Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience working within complex engineering, infrastructure, rail, construction, manufacturing, or multidisciplinary project environments.
  • Strong understanding of interface management, systems integration, and design coordination processes.
  • Experience managing design queries, assumptions, risk registers, or technical decision logs within a project setting.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams and clients.
