DBD is seeking a commercially astute and strategically driven Business Development Lead to accelerate growth within our Defence portfolio. Reporting to the Defence Partner, this role is responsible for identifying, shaping and converting opportunities across the UK nuclear defence landscape. You will play a central role in expanding our presence across existing and new client organisations, strengthening strategic relationships and positioning DBD for long-term, sustainable growth. This is a high-impact role suited to someone with strong sector credibility, commercial instinct and a well-developed network within UK nuclear defence.
What you will be doing:
- Leading Defence sector growth strategy, identifying priority clients, frameworks and programmes.
- Proactively developing new client relationships across MoD, primes and the wider defence supply chain.
- Expanding existing accounts, identifying opportunities to increase scope, capability and value.
- Leading commercial negotiations on contracts and framework agreements.
- Collaborating with Capability Partners (Engineering, Assurance and Mission Support) to shape compelling technical and commercial propositions.
- Working closely with Recruitment and Resourcing teams to align pipeline opportunities with talent strategy.
- Providing robust forecasting of pipeline, revenue and resource demand.
- Representing DBD at industry forums, client meetings and sector events to enhance brand visibility and credibility.
- Supporting bid strategy and ensuring high-quality, competitive submissions.
Formal qualifications or training:
- Degree qualified (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline.
- Demonstrable experience in business development within UK nuclear defence.
- Strong understanding of regulatory, commercial and delivery environments within the defence sector.
- Evidence of successful contract negotiation and framework engagement.
