Salary: We are offering a salary up to £28,842.00 depending on experience based on a 35-hour contract per week.

Job Type: Full Time, Permanent.

The role:

At DB Cargo UK, we are recruiting for a Mechanical Fitter to join our Wagon maintenance shop at our site in Acton. As a Mechanical Fitter within our Wagon Team, you will be responsible for the maintenance, overhaul and refurbishment of rolling stock in accordance with the relevant regime and specification.

What will you be doing?

  • Fault finding, rectification work, damage repairs, modification and work arising.
  • To carry out damage reports / overload inspections on behalf of the customer and provide all documentation including photographs when required.
  • Complete all relevant documentation relating to all work carried out on any rolling stock vehicle including completing and sending the Axiom proforma work order form V2 to the Field Maintenance Assistant.
  • Correctly filling and storing all rolling stock documentation.
  • To communicate stoppages and relay the progress of rolling stock to the Field Maintenance Coordinator.
  • Ensure that stock levels are kept to the required standard and stock is stored correctly and order / reorder stock as required.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for someone with a mechanical mindset who has experience with the use of air and hand tools. Experience in Fabrication, grinding, brake testing is also an advantage. Experience operating manual or CNC lathes, particularly XYZ lathes, would be a significant advantage and qualifications within an engineering discipline would be advantageous. Rail industry experience would also be an advantage, and you must have a pro-active approach to working with good organisation skills.
