Introduction: DB Cargo UK is on an ambitious journey to become Europe's leading rail logistics provider with a long-term plan to shift traffic from roads, protect our climate and grow the economy. We have an exciting opportunity to join DB Cargo UK as a Terminal Support Worker. The Terminal Support Worker will deliver the business requirements to the customer/s in line with commercial agreements and customer Service Level Agreements (SLA) whilst ensuring that business requirements are delivered safely.

Rail is one of the safest and most eco-friendly means of transport with one single freight train able to carry enough materials to build 30 houses. Our services replace the equivalent of over 22 million truck movements every year, saving 7 million tonnes of carbon emissions! As a Terminal Support Worker you'll be directly contributing to reducing carbon emissions and shifting traffic from roads to the rail.

Previous rail experience would be a bonus, however, this is not essential as we offer full training to ensure that you'd be ready to take on the role by yourself and help us in our journey to shift freight from the road to the rail.

What will you be doing?

  • Support and/or undertake all duties and processes as required by the business, customer or location need.
  • Maintain records in line with business and customer processes in place.
  • Provide internal and external customer service as required.
  • Fork Lift operation - if required.
  • Loads Examination - if required.
  • First Aider - if required.
  • Decant procedure - if required.
  • Undertake the Lining operation duties as set out in the Terminal SSOW and Risk Assessments and all aspects of safety related to this operation where applicable.
  • Container liner bagging where applicable.
  • Knowledge, training and understanding of harness use where applicable.
  • Work to location Specific Knowledge and rules and regulations associated with the workplace and site.
  • Offer flexibility to maintain delivery to the Customer as may be required from time to time.

What we are looking for?

  • To be highly motivated and committed to your work.
  • Have a flexible approach to shift working.
  • Experience of teamwork and lone working.
  • Work to the instruction of the person in charge.
  • Be extremely safety focused.
  • You must have a full UK manual driving licence.
  • You also must be located within a 60-minute commute of Port Talbot.
