We are Bosch Approved, AA approved and part of the IGA family run business with 9 employees. Flexible hours to suit if needed, part time or full time Monday to Saturday, optionally a day off in the week or just Monday to Friday.
We are seeking a skilled MOT Tester/Mechanic to join our automotive service team. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting MOT tests, diagnosing vehicle issues, and carrying out repairs to ensure vehicles meet safety and environmental standards. Responsibilities- Conduct MOT tests in accordance with legal and safety requirements, ensuring vehicles meet the necessary standards before certification.
- Diagnose mechanical faults using specialised tools and equipment, accurately identifying issues affecting vehicle performance and safety.
- Perform repairs and maintenance on a variety of vehicle makes and models, including engine work, brake servicing, suspension repairs, and tyre replacements.
- Utilise hand tools and power tools efficiently to carry out repairs, replacements, and adjustments.
- Assist with vehicle inspections, logging findings clearly and accurately for further action or reporting.
- Carry out heavy lifting of vehicle parts or components safely, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are stored correctly after use.
- Keep up-to-date with current MOT regulations and industry best practices through ongoing training.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with experience in vehicle diagnostics and repairs.
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as spanners, screwdrivers, pliers, etc., as well as power tools including drills and grinders.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment.
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure all work complies with safety standards and quality expectations.
- Good organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently within deadlines.
- Strong communication skills for documenting work performed clearly and accurately.
- A valid driving licence is preferred to facilitate vehicle movement around the workshop or site.
