DAZN is looking for highly motivated Senior Broadcast Engineer. This team is primarily focused on providing engineering support to our playout operation and ingest of multiple live events and OTT channels. This role will predominantly be giving support to the on-shift teams, assigning work tasks, and acting as a central point of technical escalation for internal and external stakeholders during incidents. They will be required to have in-depth knowledge of the infrastructure that supports the live delivery of video content to the platform. They will work across the platform, helping to make improvements to processes and workflows. They will work on fault finding, documentation, and reporting to drive all aspects of continual service improvement. Training of colleagues to improve the support of the product is also required. The senior engineer will work a shift pattern to ensure support of this level is given 365 days a year to the business.

The successful candidate must be passionate about broadcast, IP-based media technology, and working in live television. The candidate should have previous knowledge or experience of transmission systems, broadcast systems, contribution & distribution encoding technology, and understanding of satellite and fibre circuits. The role will be suited for Transmission/Broadcast Engineers looking to build upon their skills in the ever-converging broadcast and IT sector. Building on experience in this role can provide future progression opportunities within the wider engineering and engineering management departments.

As our new Senior Broadcast Support Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Adopt and drive best practice with broadcast technologies.
  • Support engineering and operational teams to achieve a high standard of output.
  • Manage and monitor broadcast IP channel output and the supporting infrastructure.
  • Oversee the routing and configuration of TS over IP circuits.
  • Develop and oversee the maintenance schedule of transmission and associated equipment.
  • Follow best practice and procedure on internal and external ticketing systems.
  • Work with the live engineering project team and network team on future progression of the platform and systems.
  • Review issues and ensure faults are investigated for continual service improvement.
  • Main point of technical escalation and fault management for issues within the facility.
  • Ensure documentation is provided, up to date, and created where necessary.
  • Implement process and workflow improvements to meet the changing demands of the company.
  • Attend internal and external meetings to improve systems and processes.
  • Liaise with ingest, MCR, and other engineering teams to uphold signal continuity.
  • Promote a health and safety conscious working environment.

You’ll be set up for success if you have:

  • Experience with broadcast playout systems including GFX, logo, and text insertion.
  • Knowledge of broadcast contribution encoding techniques and high-level fault analysis.
  • Experience in management of IP Transport Stream contribution (Multicast, Unicast Networks).
  • Awareness of current OTT encoding technologies.
  • Networking and Routing skills.
  • Knowledge of Satellite Communications and Digital Video Compression.
  • Experience with Stream Analysis tools.
  • Solid background in satellite and fibre contribution signals.
  • Understanding of broadcast production facility glue infrastructure.
  • Ability to work under pressure to resolve issues during live broadcasts.
