We are DAZN, the global destination for sports fans, and we are looking for our new VP, Direct Tax.
DAZN operates in 200 markets and has revenues of $5 billion.
Fans in any country can watch sport in any language, on any device, live and on-demand.
Reporting to the Group Head of Tax, you will lead DAZN's global income tax compliance and tax reporting agenda, taking personal ownership of a number of the group's highest-profile tax relationships and disclosures, including the UK corporation tax position, the HMRC Business Risk Review, and the group's Pillar 2 and tax accounting positions.
You will manage a team of two direct reports and will be a key partner to the VP International Tax & Transfer Pricing, the wider Finance function, and DAZN's external auditors.
If you want to be part of this journey, then we would love to hear from you.
What You'll Be Doing
- Own overall responsibility for global income tax compliance, providing oversight and management of DAZN’s relationships with external providers who prepare all income tax filings other than in the UK and Australia, covering approximately 50 entities, working with DAZN’s Finance team to ensure accuracy, quality and on-time delivery across the group.
- Take personal responsibility for the preparation and submission of the UK corporation tax returns, ensuring the group’s most significant direct tax filings are technically robust and defensible.
- Own and manage the relationship with HMRC for the group’s Business Risk Review, acting as the primary point of contact and working towards achieving a low-risk rating for DAZN through proactive, transparent engagement.
- Manage DAZN’s anti-hybrid mismatch position in the UK and other jurisdictions, monitoring intercompany arrangements and legislative developments to keep the group’s position robust and well-documented.
- Oversee global withholding tax compliance, ensuring correct application of domestic rules and double tax treaties across the group’s intercompany and third-party payments.
- Partner closely with the VP International Tax & Transfer Pricing to oversee the group’s Pillar 2 (global minimum tax) position and compliance obligations, including safe harbour analysis, top-up tax calculations and multi-jurisdictional filings.
- Work with the VP Tax Special Projects to integrate acquired entities and support legal entity rationalisation and structure simplification.
- Work closely with DAZN’s Finance team to oversee preparation of the group’s global tax accounts and tax provision, including current and deferred tax calculations across all reporting entities.
- Work closely with the Treasury team to prepare reliable cash tax forecasts, utilising a Power BI dashboard to track cash tax payments.
- Oversee preparation of the related tax disclosures in the consolidated and UK standalone entities financial statements, liaising with external auditors and ensuring disclosures meet the relevant financial reporting standards.
- Manage the SAO certification process for the group and maintain SAO documentation.
- Lead, develop and manage a team comprising a Senior Tax Analyst and a Tax Manager, building capability and ensuring robust review and governance across all compliance and reporting deliverables.
- Drive continuous improvement in tax compliance and reporting processes, including the effective use of tax technology such as One Source Tax Provision and Corporate Tax software, and Oracle financial systems, and the use of AI tools to develop models, document SOPs and improve processes.
- Act as a trusted adviser to the Group Head of Tax and senior finance stakeholders on global tax compliance and reporting risk, contributing to board and audit committee reporting as required.
- Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including DAZN leadership and the tax teams key shareholders and investors.
What You'll Bring
- ACA/CTA/equivalent certification (or demonstrable equivalent experience).
- Substantial UK corporate/direct tax compliance experience, gained either in-house at a large multinational or in a large accounting firm, is a requirement for this role.
- Proven experience managing HMRC relationships, ideally including direct involvement in a Business Risk Review.
- Technical knowledge of UK anti-hybrid rules and their practical application to multinational group structures is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of Pillar 2 / global minimum tax rules and their compliance implications for multinational groups.
- Strong experience of tax accounting and tax provision processes, including preparation of tax disclosures for group financial statements.
Experience with One Source Tax Provision and Corporate Tax software is preferred; experience with Oracle financial systems is an advantage.
- Experience of managing outsourced compliance outside the UK.
- US tax experience or experience working with a US multinational is a significant advantage but is not essential.
- Demonstrable people leadership experience, with the ability to manage, develop and motivate a team across direct and indirect reporting lines.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to operate confidently with senior stakeholders, external auditors and tax authorities.
- A highly flexible and measured approach to handling a large workload in an environment with rapidly shifting priorities and unpredictable demands.
