Speech & Language Therapist / SEN School / Term Time Only

Daytime Healthcare are assisting a leading SEN School who are looking for a Speech and Language Therapist to join the team in Cranleigh, Surrey.

In this role, you will be supporting around 18 students age 5-19, with severe social communication difficulties and complex learning disabilities, many with autism. With your compassion and guidance, you will help them achieve the greatest possible level of independence and communication skills relative to their complex needs and help prepare them for life beyond school or college.

You Will

  • Devise, develop and implement therapy for individuals and small groups of students
  • Manage your own caseload of students (approx. 18), setting targets for them on a termly basis
  • Assess students on admission and for annual reviews
  • Supervise the work of Therapy Assistants
  • Be given regular supervision, mentoring and 1:1 support

Hours

  • Monday to Thursday: 3 days per week 08:15-17:00 + 1 day per week 08:15-19.30
  • Friday:08:15-16:00
  • This is a term time only role and we are open to flexibility, including part time hours.

Qualifications And Skills

  • A Speech & Language Therapy qualification approved by the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists ( and Membership of the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists)
  • Health & Care Professions Council registered
  • The ability to work flexibly and co-operatively within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Managing a case load including: Maintaining up-to-date records Setting aims and objectives
  • Empathy with the needs of all students and an enthusiastic, positive, conscientious, and flexible approach.

Salary

  • The salary range for this role is based on 37 hours per week, 52 weeks a year. In practice, full time therapist hours are compressed into term time plus 5 in-service training days working each academic year (39 weeks).
  • The salary is also dependent on whether you are newly qualified, or an independent practitioner.

Own transport desirable due to the semi-rural location of the school.
