We are currently seeking an experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to support our surgical ward team in Bristol. The ideal candidate will have recent experience working in a surgical or acute hospital setting and be confident in providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and recording patient vital signs
- Understanding and applying NEWS2 (National Early Warning Score) procedures
- Assisting patients with personal care, including mobility and toileting (bedpan/commode assistance)
- Monitoring and documenting fluid balance
- Supporting nursing staff with general ward duties and patient care
- Maintaining accurate patient records and escalating concerns appropriately
Requirements:
- Previous HCA experience in a surgical or acute hospital ward
- Knowledge of vital signs monitoring and NEWS2 scoring
- Experience with personal care and patient mobility support
- Understanding of fluid balance monitoring
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Right to work in the UK
- Relevant care certificate or equivalent training preferred
