We are currently seeking an experienced Healthcare Assistant (HCA) to support our surgical ward team in Bristol. The ideal candidate will have recent experience working in a surgical or acute hospital setting and be confident in providing high-quality patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and recording patient vital signs
  • Understanding and applying NEWS2 (National Early Warning Score) procedures
  • Assisting patients with personal care, including mobility and toileting (bedpan/commode assistance)
  • Monitoring and documenting fluid balance
  • Supporting nursing staff with general ward duties and patient care
  • Maintaining accurate patient records and escalating concerns appropriately

Requirements:

  • Previous HCA experience in a surgical or acute hospital ward
  • Knowledge of vital signs monitoring and NEWS2 scoring
  • Experience with personal care and patient mobility support
  • Understanding of fluid balance monitoring
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Relevant care certificate or equivalent training preferred
