Our client is seeking experienced, compassionate, and reliable Support Workers / Carers to provide high-quality, person-centred support to a young person diagnosed with ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Learning Disability, Speech and Language Delay, Sensory Processing Difficulties, PICA, and Atopic Dermatitis.

About the Role

Support workers will provide structured, proactive support, using visual aids, predictable routines, and sensory-based strategies to help him remain regulated. He is very active and benefits from being kept busy, enjoying activities such as reading, messy play, music, outdoor exercise, walks, parks, zoo visits, swimming, soft play, and bus rides.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide consistent 2:1 support.
  • Maintain structured routines using visual supports such as PECS and Now and Next boards.
  • Support emotional regulation using de-escalation strategies and sensory activities.
  • Encourage participation in community activities that build independence and confidence.
  • Support with personal care and daily living tasks as required, ensuring dignity and respect.
  • Monitor health and wellbeing, including skin care needs and awareness of PICA risks.
  • Promote positive behaviour through praise and reinforcement of “green choices.”
  • Maintain safety at all times, including managing absconding risks.
  • Follow care plans, risk assessments, medication guidance, and safeguarding procedures.
  • Maintain accurate basic records and communicate effectively with the wider support team and family.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months’ experience as a Support Worker, Carer, or Healthcare Assistant.
  • Carer must drive.
  • Experience supporting individuals with autism, ADHD, and learning disabilities.
  • Confidence managing challenging behaviour in a calm and safe manner.
  • Understanding of structured routines, visual supports, and sensory-based interventions.
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach.
  • Excellent observation and communication skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
