Daytime Healthcare are assisting a national Supported Living Provider to recruit an Assistant Service Manager for their site in Canterbury. This site is supporting male adults with learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and communication needs. All three need support with moving and handling, and one uses a peg for ingestion.

This is a hands-on role. The candidate will play a key role in managing these changes and will have a passion for driving improvement for the best interest of the people we support. You will also participate in the on-call rota and have one dedicated admin day per week to support planning, organisation, and service oversight.

Our ideal Assistant Service Manager looks like this:

  • Work with your Service Manager to manage and lead a successful and positive team.
  • Understand the balance between keeping our people safe and positive risk taking.
  • Have a good understanding of the social care sector and how these benefits and impacts the people we support.
  • Stay up to date with policies and procedures to carry out and maintain safe and best practices.
  • Support the Service Manager to recruit new employees and develop and manage your staff team in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Work with your Service Manager to reinforce a positive culture of continuous improvement.
  • Act as the Service Manager in their absence.
  • Be flexible and able to work shifts required: bank holidays, early and late shifts (7am–2:30pm, 2:30pm–10pm across a 7 day period, and occasional extended hours for 1:1 guidance or night staff supervision).
  • In addition, there is a waking night and a sleep which you would be expected to take part in when the need arose.

You should ideally be an experienced Senior Support Worker or Service Manager to be considered.
