Daystar is looking for a Senior Broadcast Network Engineer with a servant’s heart and a master’s expertise. This isn't just a networking role; it is a high-impact position designed for a strategic architect who thrives at the intersection of cutting-edge IT and live television production. Must be a Christian committed to the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. Must be able to pass an extensive background check.
The Mission: Are you ready to engineer the future of global broadcasting?
The Strategic Scope: As our Senior Broadcast Network Engineer, you will own the "Red" (Broadcast) and "Blue" (Production) zones. You will be the primary technical authority for our RF Engineering and Studio Production departments, ensuring that our live streams and broadcast signals never falter.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect & Innovate: Design and implement robust Spine-Leaf architectures and VLAN/VRF segregation strategies to isolate and protect high-priority broadcast traffic.
- Security Orchestration: Manage and "harden" our perimeter using Fortinet Firewalls and CrowdStrike Identity Protection, ensuring a zero-trust environment for our production assets.
- Broadcast Fabric Management: Lead the configuration and optimization of Juniper SRX/EX and Arista switching environments, prioritising high-throughput video delivery and PTP (Precision Time Protocol) synchronization.
- Deployment & Physical Mastery: Physically build and setup sophisticated networks, from rack elevation and cable management to the logical configuration of VPNs, QoS, and Load Balancers.
- Strategic Troubleshooting: Act as the Tier-3 escalation point for complex network outages, utilising deep packet inspection and forensic analysis to maintain maximum uptime.
- Future-Proof Documentation: Create best-in-class technical documentation and SOPs that enable scalability and ensure the longevity of our global infrastructure.
- Collaborative Leadership: Partner directly with the RF and Studio Engineering teams to troubleshoot SRT/RTMP pathways and automate streaming workflows.
The Expert Profile: We are looking for a veteran who speaks the language of both Enterprise IT and Live Broadcast.
Qualifications & Expertise:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience: A minimum of 7-10 years of senior-level experience in high-availability environments (Broadcast or Telecom experience is a major plus).
- Core Tech Stack Mastery: Expert-level command of Fortinet Firewall Management, deep expertise in Juniper SRX/EX switching and Junos OS, strong knowledge of Arista, Brocade, and Dell switching environments.
- Systems Knowledge: Advanced understanding of VMware, Active Directory, and Windows Server (2019/2022).
- Cloud Fluency: Experience with Azure and Office 365 integration within a hybrid-cloud model.
- Certifications: JNCIP, CCNP, or CCNA preferred.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit at workstation for extended periods of time and/or walk for periods of time. Requires normal range of hearing and vision.
